Homes today not only work harder. They work smarter.
Thanks, that is, to technology that offers personalized, low-maintenance, energy-efficient living that's stylish, comfortable....even fun!
And The 2015 BHG Innovation Home shows how it's done.
In their print (October) and online magazine, Better Homes and Gardens walks us through room after room of 'practical and meaningful features' that bring the future right to our front door. From touchless faucets to easy care composite garage doors, this house is loaded with helpful ideas that make life easier. And just a bit more enjoyable.
That's big news for boomers, empty nesters or mid-lifers like myself. Because the right improvements not only elevate our day-to-day comfort and aesthetics, they increase our home's value, investment potential and resale. What's not to like about that?
So, take a look. This feature's full of cool ideas worth considering where ever you are in the phase three line up.
Here are a few personal favorites ......
* Window and door sensors that let you know when they're open or locked. Programable lights and window coverings that can be scheduled to turn on and off to add a sense of security when you're away from home---all controlled by a lighted panel or smartphone.
*Smart locks that turn your phone into your house key, offering dual entry options and single use entry codes for visitors / service individuals.
*High-styled exterior finishes, such as weather-resistant fiber cement siding, wood-shake inspired asphalt shingles and metal roof accents, that stand up to the elements and keep costs and maintenance down.
*PVC decking that's weather, scratch and stain resistant.
*Synthetic rattan furniture that blends good looks and durability.
*Bathroom shower heads, sprays, temperature and music controlled via a touchscreen. Vanity mirrors that offer TV.
*Room darkening shades that disappear with the touch of a remote or phone, when not in use.
*Space saving sliding doors (styled like french doors) that have automated shades integrated between panes.
And I could go on....
Check it out for yourself---it's well worth a look. I promise you'll find something that's perfect for your phase three home and lifestyle!
