Dump your dining room?
Slow down missy. Not so fast....
Contrary to what the housing industry's been telling us for years, it appears we still have an ongoing love affair with the most infrequently used room in the house.
In her recent article, Study Turns Table on Dining Room Desire, Chicago Tribune's Mary Umberger reports that according to a survey by national builder PulteGroup. apparently many of us still 'covet' a dining room.
Even when we say we don't want it.
Which makes abundant sense to someone like me, who can't imagine the holidays, family dinners, Sunday morning coffee or folding laundry, anywhere else. Even as my nest begins to empty.
And no surprise here, the survey also shows that this dining room preference is actually part of a bigger picture: That we actually never didn'twant more square footage.
So if your future phase three home plans include a possible downsize, new construction or home renovation, Umberger's insight may offer a fresh new perspective as to what's best for you and your home's investment.
