Patty Presto is no stranger to color. As a decorative painter, lifestyle expert and owner of On The Surface, in Atlanta, GA, she understands the power of a coat of paint to restyle a look.
In fact, her clients count on her to do just that.
Repurposing and reinventing is her thing. Make old cabinets look cutting edge? No problem. Change a new table into a warm, weathered relic? Piece of cake!
So it’s no surprise, when it comes to her phase three clients looking to completely refresh their look, she is their go-to-girl. Her inspiration? She’s tried most of her best tricks in her very own phase three home. It’s no wonder she knows exactly how to give everything from walls to floors to dining sets a hot new feel.
“I used a black glaze faux finish to contemporize these dowdy, old cabinets for a client looking for a fresh approach for a townhome she downsized to after a divorce and kids heading off to college,” says Patty of her most recent project. “She wanted a more streamlined, cool look for her new life---and I think it worked!”
I love some of Patty’s options for rethinking some of my own over-used areas. After years of kids-dogs-life’s wear and tear, I have a house full of potential make overs that totally need a fresh update. And Patty will be my first call!
Her website, On The Surface is a fab resource for inspiration on how you can rethink some of those old, worn pieces of your own. Check out her YouTube videos for hands on instruction and on twitter @On_The_Surface for her latest befores and afters.
