I've hosted more than my share of Thanksgivings through the years. But no matter how many times I've entertained for the holidays, there's always something that just doesn't seem to make it to the official to-do list. And for me, quite often it's the little things. Like creating a warm, inviting welcome for my guests when they arrive at your front door.
So I've learned to keep it simple. I have a go-to set of guidelines that make any last minute holiday restyle a snap! Here's how this entrance gets a Thanksgiving Day makeover in minutes.....
BLACK DOORS ARE LIKE THE NEW LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Everything looks great against a black door. It's the perfect back drop for anything that follows. So if you like styling the front of your home year round, black (or a great versatile neutral) is where it's at.
MAKE A GREAT CONTAINER THE FOCAL POINT
This antique basket, from an estate sale years ago, is loaded with personality and texture. And works with everything. Season after season after season. Find one that fits your style and has something to say......but lets the contents steal the show!
When it comes to fillers, greens and accents, know what you like. Magnolia leaves, berries and a touch of evergreen are my foundation fillers this time of year. So I grab them where ever I see them so they're available at a moment's notice for decorating projects indoors and out. But for super last minute creations, grocery store fresh bunches are a great alternative--- and look gorgeous. No planning necessary.
Simple, easy and done.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
